An NGO with ECOSOC status since 2013.

Who We Are?

The Pastoralists Indigenous Non-Governmental Organizations Forum (PINGOs Forum), founded in 1994 and registered in 1996, is Tanzania’s leading Indigenous Peoples rights coalition. With a network of over 53 civil society organizations, the PINGOs Forum is a dynamic national platform advocating for the rights and self-determination of pastoralists, hunter-gatherers, and other Indigenous communities.

Today, the PINGOs Forum champions community-led development, legal empowerment, land and resource rights, and environmental justice, amplifying Indigenous voices at local, national, and international levels. The Forum’s work aligns with the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), the Paris Agreement, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It plays a catalytic role in shaping policy, influencing legislation, and challenging systemic marginalization through litigation, dialogue, and grassroots mobilization.

Our Purpose

To serve as a transformative force that connects grassroots voices with global movements, advocating for climate justice, cultural preservation, and inclusive governance.
